Despite those often murky rhythms, the Melvins' work ethic has kept them moving at a breakneck pace for over 30 years. As such, the hard-working saviours of sludge have announced they'll be back out on the road for another hefty North American tour this summer.
The newly revealed tour dates confirm that founding members King Buzzo and Dale Crover will bring Hold It In collaborator JD Pinkus with them for this latest trek. Running from the beginning of June to the tail end of July, the tour has them hitting multiple stops in the U.S., but also performing Canadian dates in Toronto and London. As previously reported, the band are also appearing at this summer's Amnesia Rockfest in Montbello, QC.
Opening duties on the tour proper will be held by spasmodic Mexican garage punk trio Les Butcherettes, who had also toured with the Melvins last year on the first leg of the Hold It In tour. You'll find all of the date details down below.
In other Melvins news, the band have also revealed that their 2001 effort Electroretard will be getting the reissue treatment from Ipecac. The new edition lands on CD and digitally June 2, with a vinyl reissue to follow at a later date. The album had initially been served up on CD via Man's Ruin Records and featured the lineup of King Buzzo, Crover and bassist Kevin Rutmanis (Cows,Tomahawk).
As previously reported, the producers of Melvins documentary The Colossus of Destiny: A Melvins Tale are currently seeking funds to help finish the long-in-the-works project. You'll find more info on how to help over here.
