Fleece might be one of Canadian music's most hardworking bands — though the quartet put out their Stunning & Atrocious LP earlier this year, the members continue to explore their creative impulses with other endeavours, like lead vocalist Matt Rogers's production project it's matt and drummer Ethan Soil's work with Montreal punks DISHPIT

Guitarist Megan Ennenberg is the latest Fleece member to spread their wings, in this case with solo folk project MEGGO. Recent single "Salamander," co-produced by Ennenberg and Rogers, is a tender track driven by Ennenberg's layered vocals and soft acoustic guitars, reminiscent of Adrianne Lenker and early Julien Baker. Ennenberg has now treated the song to a new music video.

The video finds Ennenberg standing pensively amid vivid greenery, mimicking the song's simple but lush soundscape, as she traipses joyfully through the landscapes. Live-action shots are joined by stop-motion sequences that find Ennenberg joined by a cute little salamander figurine. Not to be left out of the fun, Fleece's Jameson Daniel directed the "Salamander" clip.

Said Daniel in a press release about the video, "The video tells a story of a salamander looking for some of the sweeter things in life, and when he finds those sweet things, he discovers a little message about himself."

Added Ennenberg about the song's inspirations and namesake, she said that it was written about her family's cottage. She said, "I always feel like such a unique version of myself when I'm there, like I'm more embodied and present than ever while at the same time feeling like I've become a mirror image of the world around me. It's as if I'm appearing and disappearing at once, exactly how sneaky salamanders do,"

"Salamander" is the second MEGGO single, following March's "Don't Get in My Way." Ennenberg is currently working on the debut MEGGO album.
