Maximo Park

For a band that released their debut album 16 months ago, Maximo Park sure took their sweet time getting this out. The thing is, Maximo Park fell out of the limelight rather quickly, as A Certain Trigger didn’t quite have the lasting power it needed to warrant Found On Film. It provides nicely shot concert footage at Brixton Academy of a band who can own a stage. But with Paul Smith’s obligatory song intros wearing thin after the third or fourth tune and a set list that has no surprises, it’s nothing you’d want to watch more than once. An additional gig at Newcastle Academy suffers from poor sound and is difficult to finish. Thankfully, they made some beautifully shot promo videos, which are easily the best thing here. Unfortunately, a bonus CD of radio sessions is nothing but inessential. (Warp, www.warprecords.com)
