Marilyn Manson is once again adding to his acting resume and will be joining the cast of American Gods.
The shock rocker will appear in the upcoming third season of the Neil Gaiman series on Starz, Deadline reports.
Manson will play the lead singer of the awesomely named band Blood Death. The character's name is Johan Wengren, and Blood Death are described as a "Viking death metal band."
As Deadline reports, "Wengren and Blood Death are also a source of power for the Ian McShane-portrayed Mr. Wednesday in his war with the New Gods."
Speaking of Manson's addition, American Gods showrunner Chic Eglee told Deadline, "As a longtime admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician, and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson in Season 3 of American Gods.
"Bringing his specific energy, wit, and boundless enthusiasm for all-things-Neil-Gaiman to the role of Johan, a Norse 'berserker' in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original, and uniquely entertaining."
American Gods Season 3 is set to debut next year on Straz. As of yet, though, there is no firm premiere date.
Among Manson's many acting gigs, he recently joined the TV reboot of Stephen King's beloved 1978 novel The Stand. For the show, he's already released a cover of the Doors' classic "The End" with Shooter Jennings. However, The Stand has yet to receive a premiere date.
His as-yet-untitled new album — his 11th studio effort — has yet to be officially announced, but it will mark the follow-up to 2017's Heaven Upside Down. According to previous reports, the album is expected to arrive this year.
