We're starting to think that forward-thinking hip-hop producer Madlib is actually a large team of beat-crafting scientists. How else can we explain his ridiculous amount of recorded output? Not only is he working on a new Madvillain record and the collaborative album with Guilty Simpson, but he's also announced that he'll be releasing a LP a month in 2010 with the Madlib Medicine Show. On top of that, the producer has once again showcased his ridiculous proficiency with the announcement of a new jazz album.
The album is called Miles Away, and comes from Madlib's jazz-fusion crew the Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble. The album has been in the making for years, and we first reported on it last summer. As the press release states, however, Miles Away is a jazz fusion album which has been tweaked and revised for over two years when it was first announced.
Miles Away is expected to be released on February 23 via Stones Throw. By then, he will likely have announced a few more projects, so stay on your toes.
