A couple of days ahead of unveiling This Unruly Mess I've Made, Seattle rap outfit Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have uploaded a video for the record's addiction-themed "Kevin." Featuring a cameo from soul singer Leon Bridges, the video is streaming now.
The track is dedicated to Macklemore's friend Kevin, who died of a prescription drug overdose in 2010. A recovering addict himself, Macklemore's bars reflect both the pain and ease of pill-popping to try and "escape this world." Bridges' hook hints at society's need to fill the gaps with prescriptions ("Put down the pen and look in my eyes / We're in the waiting room and something ain't right / All this is on you, we're overprescribed").
As for the video, it finds Macklemore exploring an abandoned building as he unfurls his personal lines. Bridges is on-hand too, seated in a chair with nothing more than some rubble and his powerful vibrato to keep him company.
You'll find the clip below, while This Unruly Mess I've Made hits stores this Friday (February 26).
