Machine Head

Supercharger

BY Amber AuthierPublished Nov 1, 2001

I get the feeling that Machine Head just followed their collective gut for their fourth CD. Surreal and raw guitar effects litter this record in a way that is unparalleled by Machine Head's peers. The production of Johnny K. (Disturbed) adds a dimension to Supercharger that wasn't obvious, at least to this listener, on records like Burn My Eyes and The Burning Red. The endless touring is also showing its affects. Robert Flynn's vocals have never sounded better, with tracks like "Crashing Around You" just begging to be played over and over again at very high volumes. Supercharger has the potential of drawing new listeners to Machine Head, listeners that will soon call themselves followers.
