In what sounds like a case of musical mad libs, Lil Yachty has just released a song co-written by Alex G and Mac DeMarco.

The cello-blowing rapper tapped the two indie rock songwriters for his new album Let's Start Here., which came out today. A perusal of the credits reveals that ":(failure(:" was co-written with Alexander Giannascoli and MacBriare DeMarco — a.k.a. Alex G and Mac DeMarco, respectively. There are a total of five writers credited on the track, including Nikolas Hakim, producer Jake Portrait of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Lil Yachty himself.

DeMarco also co-wrote another song on the album, "Drive Me Crazy!" — although Alex G wasn't a part of that one.

Hear ":(failure(:" below. It's a spoken-word track about the perils of success, and its wobbly, psychedelic guitars bear the stamp of Alex G and DeMarco.

Alex G appears on the cover of Exclaim!'s most recent print edition. We recently interviewed DeMarco about his new instrumental album and the "ridiculous" state of indie rock.
