Lykke Li Announces New Audiovisual Album 'Eyeye'

The follow-up to 2018's 'so sad so sexy' arrives in May

Lykke Li has followed rivers back to us with a new audiovisual album.

Eyeye lands on May 20 via PIAS/Crush. The album follows 2018's so sad so sexy, as well as last year's 10th anniversary reissue of the Swedish artist's sophomore record Wounded Rhymes.

Pronounced "eye," it's described in a press release as an "immersive audiovisual album." Eyeye also sees Li reunite with her I Never Learn collaborator Björn Yttling. "I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD," the pop star said in a statement, having recorded the LP in her Los Angeles bedroom.

The visual component was directed by Theo Lindquist and shot on 16-millimetre film. "We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media," Li added. "The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in 60 seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway."
