Much of the world music contingent at this year's Hillside was of the seated, chin-stroking variety. Not so with Montreal's Kaba Horo, who had the audience on their feet with an exultant set of Bulgarian dance music, fuelled primarily by rapid-fire accordionist Emil Iliev. An earlier workshop with Hamilton hip-hop group People's Republic helped prime the audience for these traditional Balkan beats, which don't need any contemporised context to be convincing.
