Lou Phelps has announced that he'll share his third studio album Chélbé in 2024. The project will be executive-produced by his older brother Kaytranada, whose latest effort KAYTRAMINÉ landed among Exclaim!'s top 50 albums of 2023.
"Chélbé" means "stylish" or "fly" in the brothers' native Creole, and the lead single "Jungle" certainly sets the tone for a fly album to come with bustling production courtesy of Kaytranada underlaying Phelps's dynamic lyricism.
The album will be Phelps's first in over three years following his sophomore full-length effort Extra! Extra!, which featured a guest contribution from Kaytra.
Although Phelps has yet to announce a release date, fans should expect to hear music from Chélbé at his Igloofest Quebec set in March, where both brothers are due to perform.
