Beyoncé is back with a new song. "Black Parade" was released to coincide with Juneteenth (June 19).

Anchored by a swaggering percussion loop, the song's arrangement is fairly stripped down, but it still feels grand and lush, with flutes and rich harmonies fleshing out Beyoncé's ever-powerful vocals. Lyrically, it touches on the singer's roots in both the South and Africa, makes references to some influential figures in Black history, and shares messages of Black pride.

Beyoncé's most recent solo album was 2016's Lemonade. She also teamed up with her husband Jay-Z for a 2018 album as the Carters, and she curated the 2019 soundtrack for The Lion King.
