Lil Nas X has finally given us what we've all been waiting for: a release date for his highly anticipated debut full-length album MONTERO. The record is now set to arrive on September 17 via Columbia Records.

UPDATE (8/31 11:33 a.m. ET): Lil Nas X has also revealed MONTERO's cover art in an Instagram post. See the rainbow-filled visuals below.

Having released what is presumably the album's title track, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," back in March, and more recently "Industry Baby," the cowboy-turned-Satanic-sneakerhead has now shared a snippet of another new single to come in a trailer for the album.

"Creating this album has been therapy for me," the artist wrote in a statement. "I've learned to let go of trying to control people's perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I've realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own."

We've still yet to see a full tracklisting from the artist, but if his elaborate press schemes of the past are reflective of anything, we're sure to get another outlandish announcement for that as well.

MONTERO follows Lil Nas X's debut EP 7, which arrived in 2019. That release earned the hitmaker Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Music Video/Film.
