L.A. Duped by Fake DOOM - Again

While there's no question that we're excited for his contributions to the upcoming Madvillain record, we're definitely a little disappointed in rapper DOOM (formerly MF Doom), or at least his live show. Like last year's Rock the Bells, once again an impostor has posed as the MC, this time during an L.A. show.

According to a commenter on Frolab [via The Daily Swarm], DOOM didn't play the show on Saturday night (November 21), with a fake taking the stage instead.

Here's the commenter's full statement:

lamest shit i've ever been to in my whole entire life. MF doom no show. completely lost my respect. any groups affilliated with this event, avoid going to their shows/parties. grand star jazz club isnt all that great of a venue anyways.

a fake mf doom appeared briefly then walked off. when an audience member hops on the mic and demands for $ back, some random lame lyricist 'special guest'...? clocks him in the face. 1 dj was decent the rest were horrible. hip hop needs a revival

Similarly, a YouTube user uploaded footage of the fraudulent MC, saying, "It's hard to see here but you can catch glimpses of him. It was obvious that he was an imposter since he never once laid his hand on a microphone and just played his new tracks on a laptop. I get what he's goin for here...he's a VILLAIN, but he's ripping off his fans! I was super pissed along with everybody else who came to see him."

To see for yourself, the video is streaming below.

After previous accusations, DOOM gladly admitted to hiring impersonators, and even defended himself, saying, "if you're coming to a DOOM show, don't expect to see me, expect to hear me or hear the music that I present."
