Kreator

At The Pulse Of Kapitulation

BY Keith CarmanPublished Apr 24, 2008

Riding high on both the resurgence of thrash metal and their own reinvigoration, German aggro stalwarts Kreator reissue this live show shot in East Berlin circa 1990 for the first time on DVD. That, of course, would put the event during the Enemy Of God tour in support of Coma Of Souls, directly after their strongest studio album to date, Extreme Aggressions. In other words, only the good songs are here, namely "Bringer Of Torture,” "Flag Of Hate,” "Riot Of Violence,” "Betrayer” and "Awakening Of The Gods,” all seamlessly performed by an enthusiastic band. Bolstered by an audio disc of the same 15-song performance, a director’s cut of the band’s short horror film/promotional device Hallucinative Comas and Past And Present documentary, the DVD treatment of At The Pulse Of Kapitulation may only be intended as a stop-gap while Kreator work on a new album but it’s stronger and more inspiring than anything new they could render in this day and age.
