Arriving for Shackletons vinyl-based set was like diving into a pool of bass that only got deeper as the night went on, and by the time Brits Kode 9 & the Spaceape started their set things had gotten a bit ridiculous, as they delivered drum-light but incredibly bass-heavy tracks, with dashes of Bollywood-esques singing and raga-esque rapping from the be-dredded MC. Sadly the uninspired rapping wasnt enough to keep me in the club for the whole 90-minute set, with the line "lying on her back with her legs spread apart / squealing like a stuck pig sticking out as particularly bad. Further proof of supremacy in all things bass, though: the subs were very clearly audible a full football-field-length away.
