Ahead of embarking on a massive co-headlining tour with fellow titans of indie Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten, the force that is Julien Baker has announced a collection of B-sides and shared a heartrending new song entitled "Guthrie."
The aptly titled B-Sides EP arrives on July 21 via Matador. It features three previously unheard songs from the sessions for Baker's superb third full-length, Little Oblivions — one of Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2021.
Those well-versed in the Baker lore will recognize "Guthrie" from its inclusion as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album. A muted, finger-plucked ballad, it sees the singer-songwriter harkening back to her Sprained Ankle days with just a spare acoustic guitar supporting her stark vocals and intense lyricism about failing to live up to her own expectations.
Listen to "Guthrie" below.
Baker's work has recently been included in a couple of stacked compilation albums: Through the Soil II and Portraits of Her.
