The John Borra Band might well be Toronto's finest vintage country band, boasting a cast of post-punk all-stars (Change of Heart, Blue Rodeo, Demics, Handsome Ned) and Borra's own engaging voice and songwriting. On this, their second release, Borra successfully delves into historical storytelling on tracks like "Buffalo Jump" and "I'll Tell You What Happened." Not every lyric is a winner, but everything sounds sweeter with a few pints and a seat by the stage.
