After teasing the release late last year, Waxwork Records has outlined the label's full release plans for the expanded vinyl release of Jerry Goldsmith's score to The 'Burbs by director Joe Dante.
To refresh your memory, The 'Burbs arrived in 1989 and starred both Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher. It marked a departure from Dante's previous films, such as Gremlins and The Howling, emerging as a cult-horror-comedy about a seriously messed-up suburb and how its residents deal with a group of suspected devil worshippers and murders.
As for the actual soundtrack, it was penned by OST legend Jerry Goldsmith, known for his musical work on Alien, Poltergeist and The Omen, just to name a few. The Waxwork release will mark the first time the score has been pressed on vinyl, with the set emerging as a sprawling 2-LP package containing the expanded and complete score.
The audio has been remastered for the vinyl release, which will also feature new liner notes from Dante and new album art by Vance Kelly. The vinyl will be pressed on 180-gram "Suburban Sky" coloured wax, include an art print insert and feature old style tip-on gatefold jackets with satin coating.
The vinyl reissue will go on sale Friday (October 26), and you can listen to sampler featuring four album tracks over here.
UPDATE (10/24, 4 p.m. EDT): Waxwork will also release the soundtrack to Christopher Young's Drag Me to Hell on Friday. It will also be a 2-LP and mark the first time the release has been pressed on vinyl.
