Jim Bryson

"The Depression Dance" (video)

Jim Bryson is set to return with his latest solo LP Somewhere We Will Find Our Place tomorrow (February 19), but before it lands, Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive first look at the Ottawa singer-songwriter's video for album cut "The Depression Dance."

The clip was compiled with the help of fellow Ottawa musician Jeremy Fisher, and it features sent-in footage of an array of friends and fans dancing. From in-car grooves to dogs doing tricks to group bonfire bashes and lots of at-home solo choreography, it's a fun-filled clip that sees each "dancer" expressing themselves in their own unique way.

"The video was just a whim of an idea that I put out there without giving it too much thought to see if people would even be interested," Bryson tells Exclaim! "As we went along, I sculpted more a process for people to follow to have some continuity. Also having Jeremy Fisher editing, I knew all the material would be in good hands. In addition to the dancing videos, I sent Jeremy some footage I had shot on my phone of random things to add some textures. Pretty fast from idea to done it was".

Somewhere We Will Find Our Place is out tomorrow through Fixed Hinge Records/Fontana North, and you can pre-order it here.  Scroll past Bryson's upcoming live dates, break out your dancing shoes, and hit play to check out the video premiere for "The Depression Dance."
