Long the anchor of Fredericton's musical community, the Capital Complex played host to just over half of Flourish Festival's 2019 schedule. Adopted Frederictonian Jerry Faye took the stage Friday night (April 26), working through new material and selections from 2017 solo record In Sum, reworked to accommodate the full band she formed late last year. "Summer's filled with happiness and wine / I just wish that we'd had more time," she sang on "I Should Have Guessed."

The lofty ceiling of her voice maintained the intimacy of that solo album at this show, even with the materialization of a heavy rhythm section and lead guitar that ranged from Heartland rock to more textural, Lost in the Dream-esque tones. Slow burner "Shameless" flaunted sparse, spatial verses and a nicely melodic bass line. This young band boasts an airy indie rock acumen.
