Bona fide Canadian folk rock star Jason Collett is set to embark on a Canada-wide tour. That's right folks - from St. John's, NL to Victoria, BC the Broken Social Scenester will be bringing his songs from coast-to-coast.
Itching to get back down to the beautiful simplicity of the basics, Collett will be laying it all out there with stripped-down acoustic sets in intimate venues, thus the live dates' fitting name of the Undressed Tour. So get ready for a little intimacy and pillow talk, and catch the Polaris Music Prize-nominated musician at one of his stops. And with over 20 shows across Canada, there isn't really a good excuse not to.
"There's an acute intimacy you only ever get with your audience when you're standing there all alone with nothing but the undressed songs and some pillow talk stories," says Collett in a statement about the inspiration for the tour. "The vulnerability of the moment tends to pull something more out of you. I really enjoy going there."
To coincide with the tour, Collett will be releasing a special collection of previous works, which according to a press release, will be "re-imagined, taken apart and re-recorded with a focus on the beautiful simplicity and intrinsic storytelling at the heart of each song." However, there is no word yet about the record's specific release date.
Collett's most recent album, Rat A Tat Tat, made the 2010 Polaris Music Prize long list and was released earlier this year via Arts & Crafts, along with the accompanying To Wit To Woo EP.
