Janelle Monáe Brings Prince and Miguel Onboard for 'The Electric Lady'

Janelle Monáe's first big reveal behind her upcoming The Electric Lady LP was the Erykah Badu-assisted single "Q.U.E.E.N.," and now the finely coiffed R&B singer has revealed she's also got high-profile collaborations with Prince and Miguel coming our way.

While Monáe is keeping the name of her song with the Purple One under wraps, she described Prince as a great friend and mentor, and that she relished the opportunity to produce the icon.

"It's a beautiful thing to have a friend — someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause," she told Billboard, later adding, "It's not every day that he collaborates. I'm honoured and humbled that he trusted me. He is forever my friend, and I am forever indebted. I can't say too much else about it."

Monáe offered up more details on her team-up with Miguel, which is titled "Primetime." The duet apparently meshes the "ooh" section of the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?" with a funk beat and runs by on a chorus of: "Primetime for our love/Heaven is bettin' on us."

While the official due date of The Electric Lady has yet to be set in stone, it's expected to drop sometime in September. Monáe's last LP was 2010's The ArchAndroid.
