In lieu of a physical parade this year, Pride programming is moving online with help from HBO. The network will host its virtual Pride festivities — titled Human by Orientation — from June 18 to 28.
Performers include Janelle Monáe, Kim Petras, Todrick Hall, Shangela, Ryan Heffington, Cameron Esposito, DJs Oscar Nñ and Adam R., Rimarkable and many more.
The festivities will offer a mix of daytime and nighttime programming with musical performances, as well as drag, queer comedy, discussion panels, dance parties and workout sessions. All events are free to attend online.
"Just because we have to be physically distant, doesn't mean we have to be separated as a community," Shangela wrote of the event in a statement. "Now more than ever, we need to be online, we need to be posting and we need to be reaching out to and connecting with friends."
HBO has offered the following message about the upcoming event.
Pride originated as a protest, led by trans women of color, fighting for all LGBTQIA+ people. Black lives matter. Black trans lives matter. Black queer lives matter. As a community, we must stand in solidarity. We hope our Pride site provides a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to gather, recharge and celebrate our queerest, proudest selves.
