James Mercer and Danger Mouse Return as Broken Bells for 'After the Disco'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 8, 2013

Shins songwriter James Mercer and super-producer Danger Mouse previously teamed up as Broken Bells and released a self-titled album in 2010 and the Meyrin Fields EP in 2011. Having undertaken separate projects in the last couple of years, they have now reunited for their second collaborative full-length.

The album is called After the Disco and it will be out in January through Columbia Records. The pair announced the release with a mysterious, sci-fi themed teaser video. It shows Mercer and Danger Mouse hanging out in a desert and blasting off in some sort of spaceship. It includes a clip of new music that's rife with twinkling synths and falsetto vocals.

Broken Bells posted a link to their newly designed website on Twitter, writing, "There may be more than meets the eye…"

Beyond this, we don't know much about the album, but all will doubtless be revealed soon enough. In the meantime, check out the teaser clip below.
