Is Jack White teasing a new release? The songwriter has been dropping hints about new material, and now it seems that he might preparing something called "The Man in the Moon" or possibly "Pareidolia."

UPDATE (10/18 12:00 p.m. ET): The new single "Taking Me Back" is out now. Listen here.

UPDATE (10/18 10:30 a.m. ET): Jack White has confirmed that a new single, "Taking Me Back," will be out at noon today. Hear a snippet of the song in the Call of Duty: Vanguard trailer below.

Yesterday (October 14), White's official Instagram shared a picture of the eggs White was eating for breakfast, with a caption reading, "I'm not one to post pictures of his food, but some damn interesting pareidolia in my eggs this morning! It's no Jesus or Mary, but I do think it's the man in the moon…"

Pareidolia refers to seeing familiar patterns in otherwise unrelated objects; seeing the face of a man in the moon is a common example of pareidolia.

Intriguingly, sitting right next to the plate is something that appears to be a 7-inch sleeve with White's face on the moon. The black and blue image has a similar aesthetic to the rest of White's solo catalogue.

The image also features writing that says "Call me! 965*#7108423." If you Google that number, you'll end up on the website to buy the latest Third Man Records Vault package, which is a White Stripes live album from 2001.

It's all speculation at this point, but it's enough to get White's fans excited — particularly given his hints at new material. He recently said, "I've been off the road for two years, and there's a studio at my house — let's put it that way!" He previously posted a cryptic snippet of chopped-up audio along with a poem.

Then again, maybe this is just a picture of eggs.
