This week sees the release of the late J Dilla's long-lost vocal album, The Diary, but the Detroit rap figure is being showcased ahead of the official release date with another sneak preview. This time, it's a bonus cut with Nas called "The Sickness."
The song features a zany, siren-and-synth-blaring beat from Madlib, above which Dilla drops bars about spitting heat and killing enemies with rhymes. Nas talks about being suited-and-booted, flexing in the Wall Street Journal, and possessing more drive than most.
"The Sickness" is streaming below, while The Diary can be opened up in full April 15, via Mass Appeal Records, with the vinyl arriving the next day as part of Record Store Day.
As previously reported, there's plenty of J Dilla-related releases on the horizon beyond The Diary. Slum Village's The Fan-Tas-Tic Box: A Jay-Dee Production and a repress of J Dilla's Jay Love Japan are both due in May.
