Seriously, it's a good time to be a Royal Trux fan. Last month, we learned that the defunct DC scuzz rock unit were re-releasing their odd 'n' sods set Singles, Live, Unreleased, then we found out that former member Jennifer Herrema rechristened her RTX project as Black Bananas for a new LP. Now former partner in crime Neil Hagerty has announced the next record from his long-running group, the Howling Hex.
A press release explains that the slinkingly sexy lo-fi rockers' next set is titled Wilson Semiconductors and will arrive December 6 via Drag City, "just in time for the holidaze." The one sheet kept things fairly cryptic, with only the message "Reception, Brunette Roulette, Play This When You Feel Low, A Game of Dice" attached to it.
At this point, it's unclear whether that's a tracklisting, or a list of appropriate times and settings for when to play the platter. What is known, however, is that Hagerty produced and arranged the set, which was recorded at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX this past July.
No doubt, more info about the release will pop up before its release next month. Wilson Semiconductors is the Howling Hex's 11th album and the follow-up to 2009's Rogue Moon.
