Hear Thurston Moore Cover New Order's "Leave Me Alone"

Former Sonic Youth dude Thurston Moore has shared a cover of New Order's "Leave Me Alone."

He recorded his rendition of the 1983 Power, Corruption & Lies track near New Order's hometown of Manchester, in Salford, and roped in a group of Mancunian musicians to play as his backing band.

"Salford is the only place I would dare cover a New Order song, with local musicians and local pints," Moore told The Quietus. "It was just one of those rare occasions, where something I wouldn't normally do was done just for fun, and in homage and respect to the place."

The track will serve as the B-side to three upcoming 7-inch singles, featuring live recordings from Thurston Moore Group from earlier this year ("Spring Swells," "Three Graces," "Pollination"). The singles are due out on November 8 via the Daydream Library Series.

On September 21, Moore will also be releasing Spirit Counsel, an album contains three extended recordings worked on by Moore over the course of last year and in early 2019. That album will also arrive via the Daydream Library Series.
