Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Charmaine, Terez

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Jun 25, 2021

Well, that's another week in the books — and Canadian artists are certainly keeping busy! As always, we've got your weekly roundup of our favourite new homegrown music.

First and foremost: Indigenous excellence. Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Terez, Wolf Castle and Drezus are just a few names you should know.

A lot of cool collaborations are happening as of late, as well, including Charmaine teaming up with Haviah Mighty, Ellis bringing aboard her partner-in-crime Chastity, and Our Lady Peace's triumphant return with — wait — Pussy Riot?! Yeah, you'll probably have to listen to that one for yourself to believe it.

Let highlights from this week's crop of new record releases from Mother Mother, I M U R, Lightman Jarvis Ecstatic Band and Nick Ferrio — as well as Exclaim! New Faves Caid Jones and Janette King — convince you to check out some fresh full-length albums.

You'll also hear Nova Scotian newcomer T. Thomason cover the Bruce Cockburn classic "Lovers in a Dangerous Time." And on the topic of reworks, we have remixes from Desarae Dee, Marie Davidson, k.d. lang and Orville Peck, as well as Hannah Georgas and Owen Pallett. Plus a posthumous Stompin' Tom Connors release!

We're truly not sure what year it is anymore, but you can get into the moment with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
