Hear Foo Fighters and Nick Raskulinecz Cover Rush's "2112 Overture"

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Nov 8, 2016

Not long after celebrating their lengthy career with a new documentaryRush unveiled an expansive 40th anniversary reissue project behind their seminal LP 2112 last week. The reissue will include re-recordings of album tracks by Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, producer Nick Raskulinecz, Billy Talent and more, with the Grohl/Hawkins/Raskulinecz trio's cover of "2112 Overture" arriving today (November 8).

Staying relatively true to the original, Grohl, Hawkins and Raskulinecz tear their way through the album opener and manage to sneak in a reference to "YYZ" come the end. Of course, the trio were part of Rush's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2013, where they performed the song decked out in the band's 1976 outfits.

Rush will be rolling out the expanded 40th anniversary edition of 2112 on December 16 via UMe. You can hear the Grohl/Hawkins/Raskulenicz cover by listening to The Strombo Show here, starting at the 46-minute mark. You can also find a cover of Rush's "A Passage to Bangkok" by Billy Talent on the playlist.

Below, relive the live performance from the Foos.
