This weekend (July 28–30), Hillside Festival in Guelph is offering free admission to recent arrivals from Ukraine in the Guelph area, as well as their hosts and helpers.

"We know music has the power to heal and console," Marie Zimmerman, executive director of Hillside Festival, said in a press release. "This is a small gesture to connect people to the music of their culture and to the caring community at the festival."

Recently arrived Ukrainians interested in attending the festival are asked to reach out to Isabella Asheber at eventassistant@hillsidefestival.ca and provide a name and an email address or cell phone number for each attendee before checking in with a festival volunteer at the Hillside Main Gate.

The festival, which will feature performances by DEBBY FRIDAY, Hayden, Ariel Posen, Luna Li, Zoon and many more, kicks off this Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET. The festival also features performances by Ukrainian acts DakhaBrakha and Balaklava Blues and will offer borscht at the DakhaBrakha Sunday afternoon show.

More information about the festival, including the full lineup, can be found here.
