The Goods are a Canadian institution, since members of the musical family make up the bands the Good Brothers and the Sadies. Now, some of the relatives have teamed up at the Good Family and on April 30 will release The Good Family Album through Latent Recordings. If you've been itching for a listen, the album is now streaming below.
The Good Family consists of Bruce and Larry Good of the Good Brothers, plus Bruce's children Travis and Dallas of the Sadies. Bruce's wife Margaret — who is Travis and Dallas' mother — is also on board, as is cousin/niece D'Arcy. These family members are joined by a rhythm section that consists of Sean Dean and Mike Belitsky from the Sadies.
The Good Family Album was mixed by Michael Timmins of Cowboy Junkies and finds the musicians channelling their folksy roots. These 10 tunes feature plucked banjos, sprightly fiddle and familial vocal harmonies, with stylistic turns including the bluegrass gallop of "Outside of Saskatoon," the folk rock charge of "Coal Black Hills" and the melancholic waltzing of "Life Passes (And Old Fire Dies)."
