Some things never change, and that definitely applies to Goldfinger's latest effort, Open Your Eyes. Here is yet another chapter in the band's formulaic, radio-friendly pop punk, with its target audience being primarily pubescent mall punk youth with a hefty allowance. Unfortunately, Goldfinger's lack of musical progression makes them susceptible to releasing album after album of Blink 182, Weezer and Warrant-inspired dog food. For the amount of quality material on Open Your Eyes, Goldfinger should have released a single for "Open Your Eyes," backed with "January," and dumped the rest of the album on the cutting room floor where it rightfully belonged.
