Gold Panda

Gold Panda's entrance to stage was as inauspicious as it comes, setting up his MacBook Pro while support act Badawi was finishing his set. Arriving on the stage wearing his trademark hoodie and looking a tad nervous for what was a five-minute soundcheck, it took him a little bit of fiddling around before launching into a set that was banging from the get-go. Dancing like a maniac behind his gear, Panda made good use of triggers and touchpad samplers, making for an energetic and kinetic laptop performance. Keeping it loose he added some improvisation and increased the tempo of several tracks. Aiming for energy as opposed to tightness, Panda did a great job of translating his studio work in a live context and playing to the vibe of the room, ending with his early single and a crowd favourite "Quitter's Raga."
