Toronto's Ben Cook keeps himself plenty busy slinging six-string riffs in Fucked Up and leading his Young Governor outfit, but the prolific punker is putting his energy into yet another project called Yacht Club, who will issue a two-song 7-inch next year.
A press release promoting the partnership between Cook and collaborator Matt DeLong explains that the duo's "A Little Messed Up" / "Fail to Cry" single arrives February 19 via Daps Records. Formed in 2011 after DeLong returned to Toronto following a few years of session work in Los Angeles, the band serves as a reunion for the former No Warning members. However, Yacht Club apparently favours a synth-pop sound over their old group's thuggy hardcore feel.
You can sample the unit's new video for the A-side, which has Cook in full-on creeper mode, sneaking uncomfortable stares directed at canoodling couples, spandex-sporting tennis players and bench-bound ice cream eaters. DeLong said in a statement that the clip is a "cheeky interpretation of the Facebook/Instagram generation's stalker and peeping tom tendencies."
