Over the past 13 years, Flogging Molly have become one of the strongest purveyors of Americanized Celtic punk. Still, few of their four studio and three previous live albums have managed to truly convey the revelrous atmosphere, spirit and refined musicianship the ensemble are capable of. An overwhelming experience at two discs and 93 minutes, it will certainly test the limits of even the most devout whiskey-drinking, reel-and-jig performing punker. But even those who can't stomach that much time wrapped up in mandolins, violins and accordions battling with the traditional rock guitar and drums can't say the effort is half-hearted. Interestingly, live atmosphere actually enhances the album, as we experience the electrified enthusiasm each performer adds to their craft while an audience prods them closer and closer to their peak. Fun and vivacious, Live At The Greek Theatre might actually prove more valuable to Flogging Molly fans than their studio work.
