FINNEAS Had a Gun Pulled on Him While Driving to a Recording Session

"I must have cut somebody off on Los Feliz Boulevard or something, and they pulled up next to me," he told Flea

FINNEAS, who is Billie Eilish's brother and a mega-producer in his own right, has revealed that he once had a gun pointed at him during a traffic altercation en route to a recording session.

The artist appeared on This Little Light, the new podcast hosted by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, which explores how an artist first fell in love with music and picked up an instrument. This led FINNEAS to discuss the intimacy of collaborating with artists in the studio, and he shared this alarming story:

I remember one time I went to a session, and on the way to the session, I must have cut somebody off on Los Feliz Boulevard or something, and they pulled up next to me and rolled down their window and pointed a gun at me. My heart was beating so fast. [They were] screaming at me.

And then I rolled up to a session with an artist that I'd never met before, and they were like, "How's your day been?" I was like, "great!" Because we're making a record for them, and I didn't want to inject this whole [energy of], "This crazy thing just happened to me." Because I wanted to know about them. Oftentimes with an artist, they're telling me about the divorce they're going through or something, and I didn't want to make it about me.

It wasn't clear from the story when it happened, and if this was a recent incident or something that happened years ago. Hear him tell the story below; the discussion of the gun incident starts around the 50-minute mark.

Flea released the first two episodes of This Little Light yesterday: one with FINNEAS, and the other with longtime RHCP producer Rick Rubin. This week, the Chili Peppers played Vancouver; read our review of the show.
