Feist to Donate Proceeds from Banff Concert to Alberta Flood Relief

Following last month's devastating Alberta floods, a number of Canadian musicians have stepped up to lend their support. This includes Feist, who will be donating all proceeds from her upcoming show in Banff to the cause.

The show is on August 7 at Banff's Shaw Amphitheatre. The money will be donated to the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre. The homeless shelter was flooded on June 21, and a press release notes that 1,200 clients had to evacuate in a matter of minutes. The facility was damaged, and the centre is currently in the process of resuming its normal operations.

The cause is undoubtedly close to Feist's heart, since she grew up in Calgary and formed her first bands in the city.

She said in a statement, "My family were lucky enough to avoid serious effects of the floods, but I can only imagine what others went through. With the advice of my mom, my eyes on the ground, I chose the DI to support through this concert. This type of catastrophe has certainly shown the many faces of disaster but, rain or shine, the DI help the homeless and less fortunate every day. What they do is noble, special, and life-changing, and it deserves not just my support, but yours as well. I'm happy to have a summer's night under the stars in Banff translate into some tangible support of this incredible organization."

Standard tickets for the show cost $54.25 including fees and are available at Ticketmaster. Fans can also bid on a VIP package for two on eBay. The package includes two tickets, economy flights from anywhere in mainland North America, five-star accommodations and a meet and greet with Feist. As of press time, the bid is already over $1,000.
