As previously reported, we're just a month away from the release of Faith No More's Sol Invictus, their first album in almost 20 years. Apparently, we're also in store for a couple of reissues, as the eclectic hard rock band have announced deluxe editions of 1989's The Real Thing and 1992's Angel Dust will arrive not too long after the new LP.
As Pitchfork reports, the band will deliver expanded editions of both classic sets on June 9 on CD, with vinyl editions to follow in August.
Though the sequencing of the tracklists has yet to appear, the modified The Real Thing — the first Faith No More LP to feature Mike Patton on vocals — will feature a handful of extras. This includes remixes of rap-and-metal-mixing hit "Epic," "From out of Nowhere" and "Falling to Pieces," as well as B-sides "Cowboy Song" and "The Grade." There will also be live recordings of the album's "Surprise You're Dead," their cover Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," We Care a Lot's "As the Worm Turns," Introduce Yourself's "Chinese Arithmetic" and "Underwater Love."
Less clear is the tracklisting for Angel Dust, though the original album will be expanded to include more live tracks and covers of the Commodores' "Easy" and Dead Kennedys' "Let's Lynch the Landlord."
You may remember that Music on Vinyl had reissued Angel Dust and The Real Thing on vinyl in 2013, as well as 1995's King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime and 1997's Album of the Year. Judging by the FNM's own upcoming re-releases, this seemingly rubbed the band the wrong way.
Last year, in regards to Music on Vinyl repressing pieces of Patton's back catalogue with Mr. Bungle, he took to Facebook to make the pointed statement: "authorized vinyl reissues coming in 2015."
Faith No More are currently on tour, and have upcoming Canadian appearances booked in Toronto and Montreal. Sol Invictus, meanwhile, hits stores May 19 through Reclamation Recordings/Ipecac Recordings.
