We've known for a while now that Faith No More have been working on a new full-length, their first since 1997's Album of the Year. Though the full details have yet to be revealed, the reunited rock group's next long-player will be called Sol Invictus. It comes out May 19 through Faith No More's own Reclamation Recordings, via frontman Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings.
A press release notes that the group recorded the album in San Francisco, with bass player Billy Gould taking on production duties. A tracklisting has yet to be delivered, but Sol Invictus is expected to feature the snarling "Motherfucker" and the upcoming "Superhero," which arrives on 7-inch on March 17 and digitally March 31.
A previous statement from Gould had him explaining the new LP had him hinting at a sonic evolution, noting, "I think what we're doing reflects where we've gone since we made our last record as Faith No More. I think this kicks things up a notch."
He added: "And I think there's parts that are very powerful and there's parts that have a lot of 'space.' Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play; it's always going to sound like us. It's just what we do, that makes us feel good."
As previously reported, Faith No More have a big batch of global dates coming up in 2015, with a North American tour opener taking place at Vancouver's PNE Forum on April 15. The band will also hit Toronto in May and will take part in this summer's Heavy Montreal. You'll find out more about their travel plans here.
