The future-pop star announced today via Rolling Stone that she has a new mixtape called ELIO'S INFERNO set to release on August 5. It follows her previous pair of EPs — 2020's u and me, but mostly me, 2021's Can You Hear Me Now? and the subsequent remix collection ELIO and Friends: The Remixes; a prolific rate for keeping pace with streaming algorithms amid the pandemic.
Latest cut "I LUV MY BRAIN!" comes after a slew of previous singles slated for inclusion on the mixtape: "Vitamins," "Read the Room" and "TYPECAST."
"It's about learning to appreciate my brain for all that it does and allows me to do, while also acknowledging that it can be a bit difficult a lot of the time," ELIO said of the track, which embraces some sparkling early-2000s R&B textures and rhythmic sensibilities, culminating in a loving refrain perfectly primed for singalongs.
She added: "I've had a constant battle with my thoughts and my feelings because they set me back in so many things, but they also allow me to be creative in so many ways. I really wouldn't be where I am without it being the way that it is — sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes that's a bad thing, but I think I'm getting to the point of accepting it."
