Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower, the moniker of one Ben Wheelock to hide the fact that he’s doing everything here, is at first a pleasant exploration in the spirit of Folk Implosion — pop smarts atop a layer of simple, playful beats. The whole sounds quite good, but it all tends to flow past, pleasant but unremarkable. It’s only at about the halfway mark, with “Enough Yet” and “Transpacific Day” that truly memorable songs come along. Otherwise, it’s pleasantly innocuous, and certainly competent, but not particularly noteworthy.
