Among the countless bands affected by the coronavirus pandemic are Edmonton's Altameda, who were recently forced to call off their upcoming dates with Amy Helm. Now the group are trying to look on the bright side by doing a cover of Dion DiMucci's "Your Own Back Yard."
Altameda explained the decision with the following statement:
We decided now would be an appropriate time to share a track about overcoming addiction but also just the general theme of resilience. It's a cover of Dion DiMucci's "Your Own Back Yard" from his 1975 album Born to Be with You. Recorded in the Spring of 2018 at Baldwin Street Sound in Toronto by Aaron Goldstein, the track features Aaron on pedal steel, as well as backing vocals from Carleigh Aikins (Royal Wood, Bahamas, Dwayne Gretzky).
While Altameda's tour dates are now rescheduled for June, their cover of "Your Own Back Yard" is now available via their Bandcamp for free or pay-what-you-can. Check it out below.
