Kenny Rogers died this past Friday (March 20) at the age of 81, and now New Pornographers leader A.C. Newman has paid tribute with a cover of "Tell It All Brother."

The song highlights Newman's melancholic folk leanings, rather than his power-pop roots. It's presented as a simple acoustic ballad, with guitar strums supported by nimble piano and whirling organ. Lush harmonies come courtesy of the New Pornographers' Kathryn Calder and Levon Helm's daughter Amy Helm.

Hear the song below.

Newman subsequently tweeted "What should I record tomorrow?" — so by the sound of things he's going to keep making music while on coronavirus lockdown.
