Eddie Vedder Says Paul McCartney Punched Him in the Face

Part of Paul McCartney's legacy comes from keeping beat as half the Beatles' rhythm section, though he apparently gave a different meaning to the word in throwing a surprise left on Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.

As part of a guest DJ set on Sirius XM's new Beatles channel, Vedder recalled the incident at a Seattle bar in which Macca was sharing a story with him of a time the Beatle hit someone. In acting out the moment, McCartney threw a punch, with the songwriter accidentally smoking Vedder in the process.

"I remember tasting a bit of blood," Vedder recalled, adding that McCartney was quick to apologize before continuing to tell his story.

"And I remember when it went away, when the pain subsided and the swelling went down," Vedder continued. "I kinda missed it."
