Drake has left Toronto fans hanging as of late, postponing shows and not acknowledging the lack of his annual OVO Fest in his hometown — but it seems as if the star-studded concert event will be back for 2019.
Last night (August 22), at the end of his second show at the Scotiabank Arena (a name change he refused to acknowledge by calling it the Air Canada Centre multiple times), Drizzy announced that OVO Fest was coming back.
"I'll see you next year at OVO Fest," he told the massive crowd.
He also promised that he'd get back in the studio after wrapping up touring in support of Scorpion.
Drake began hosting OVO Fest in 2010, and it took place in Toronto over the civic holiday/Caribana weekend each year until 2017. This year, no announcement was made with regards to the festival, and its usual weekend simply passed by without a show.
The concerts are known for featuring guest appearances by huge stars, including the Weeknd, Eminem, JAY-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nas, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
Historically, OVO Fest has taken place at the Molson Amphitheatre (now called the Budweiser Stage), though on More Life's "Do Not Disturb," Drake hinted that he "might move our annual shit to the 'Dome" because he needs "40,000 people to see what I'm on."
As we await an official 2019 OVO Fest announcement, check out Drake and Migos' remaining tour dates here.
