Dr. Ring Ding & the Senior All-Stars

Golden Gate: The Best of...

Germany's Senior All-Stars have called it quits, ending what has been a long and fruitful career. Dr. Ring Ding, aka Richie Jung, should continue his work on the solo tip, but Golden Gate summarises his long union with SAS. Ranging from dancehall reggae to smooth and soulful rock steady, all aspects of Jamaican music are covered here. Golden Gate includes such favourites as "Call Di Doctor,” "My Sound” and 16 others. For those unfamiliar with Dr. Ring Ding & SAS, they blend Ring Ding's dancehall vocal style with old school roots reggae, ska and rock steady, creating an interesting dynamic. Ring Ding's ability to switch from straight dancehall ("Call Di Doctor”) to traditional ska that sounds straight out of the ’60s ("Big Man”) never fails to astonish, and Golden Gate perfectly encapsulates the amazing range of his years with the Senior All-Stars. For a special treat, be sure to check out "Sound Unity,” a track that also features New York's King Django and Rocker T.
