DMX is in hospital following a drug overdose.

Although there has been no official announcement from the rapper's team, TMZ reports that he overdosed around 11 p.m. on Friday (April 2), and it triggered a heart attack. The 50-year-old rapper was taken to the critical care unit of a hospital in White Plains, NY.

Different sources tell TMZ that DMX has "some brain activity" or is in a "vegetative state." Doctors have apparently advised that he might not survive.

DMX has had various rehab stints and drug arrests over the years. He most recently checked himself into rehab back in 2019. He is 50 years old.

UPDATE (4/5, 12:30 p.m.): DMX's family have now issued a statement to the media, saying the rapper is "facing serious health issues" following his heart attack. "We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges," the family of the rapper born Earl Simmons wrote.

His manager Nakia Walker also said on Sunday that DMX is still in the same condition, explaining the artist is "still in the same condition — in a vegetative state, [with] lung and brain failure and no brain activity."
