Supergroup Deltron 3030 made a huge splash in 2000, when their futuristic, self-titled album quickly became a classic. Busy with other projects and not being in the "right place at the right time," it wasn't until this year that Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala and Dan the Automator finally released Deltron 3030: Event II. The Exclaim!-approved album adds an orchestra over the group's hip-hop beats while preserving Del's apocalyptic lyrics.
We met up with the group at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre, where they performed "Melding of the Minds" with a full backing band. The result is a pretty funky fusion of rap and rock, with a bass and guitar player accompanying the core three members. Del keeps the energy up with his spirited verses, while Dan and Kid Koala keep things steady on the electronics and turntables. See it all below.
